Dark Star

The Dark Star is a sleek, fast, and silent paper airplane. This plane was inspired by the mysterious SR-72 Aurora. Based on the rumors of an unknown aircraft to secretly replace the SR-71 Blackbird, the Aurora has the ability to fly at a hypersonic speed of 4368 mph (Mach 6).

These instructions will be available on YouTube. My channel link is below.

(1) Fold paper in half vertically and unfold.

(2) Fold paper in half horizontally and unfold.

(3) Fold the top section of the paper in half to start making the weight system.

(4) Fold the new top edge down, and stop once it reaches the raw edge.

(5) Fold the layers down using the old crease.

(6) Make the top edges parallel with the vertical center crease.

(7) Unfold the layers.

(8) Fold the raw edges on the side until they touch the creases. Then, refold them.

(9) Mountain fold in half.

(10) Make the base of the wing as shown.

(11) Make a crease at the leading edge of the wing. End the crease at the end of the layers.

(12) Unfold the crease.

(13) Flip over.

(14) Repeat steps 10-12 on this side.

(15) Make an estimate of a new winglet's size. Use the next image as a reference.

(16) Make a squash fold by opening the on the winglet.

(17) Repeat on other side.

(18) Open wings.

(19) Make winglets perpendicular. Make sure the ends remain horizontal.

Space Shuttle

The Space Shuttle is a personal origami favorite. The Shuttle has a similar folding technique to another one of my designs, the F-117 Nighthawk. Proceed with caution. The nose is made with an outside reverse fold, which I've tried to make as simple as possible.

(1) Fold in half and unfold.

(2) Fold the top raw edges to the center crease.

(3) Fold the tip down to the bottom of the layers.

(4) Fold the top layer slightly higher than the edge above.

(5) Fold new layers, trailing the to layer's edges.

(6) Lift the overlapping layers to fold the small triangle inside the pocket behind it.

(7) Push the layers down.

(8) Fold in half and rotate.

(9) Make a fuselage crease.

(10) Unfold.

(11) Blown up image. Precrease the nose with a mountain fold.

(12) Repeat the fuselage fold and flip over.

(13) Repeat the fuselage crease.

(14) Make a wing crease.

(15) Finish the wing by making a leading edge from the front corner of the wing to the back wingtip corner.

(16) Repeat for the opposite wing.

(17) Open the wings.

(18) Pull the tail of the fuselage upwards to make a stabilizer.

(19) Flatten the tail.

(20) Make winglets and add elevator

Finished tail section. Proceed to the nose.

(21) Make the nose round.

(22) Curve the top of the nose to make a cockpit.

Finished nose section.

Finished Space Shuttle.
